The city of Pompano Beach and Broward County Sheriff’s Office fed close to 1000 families in need on Thursday.

Local churches, clubs and city council members came together to lift the burden of food disparity off of families’ shoulders.

“I’m always proud of my city,” Mayor Rex Hardin said.

Each family is given a 40 pound box of food that should last them about a week.

Commissioner Tom McMahon said they will have a food drive every week until the pandemic ends.
